I was discussing with my dad today the prospect of "go everywhere in Europe while you're there" vs. "day/weekend trip around Germany/Austria/Switzerland". He made the very valid point that short trips to Edinburgh, London, Venice and Warsaw are never going to be the cultural experience that being immersed in die Deutschspraechige Laender will be, and that those visits can be made in 5 years with pretty much no effect on the experience. So I feel like I've kind of made a decision in that regard. Nonetheless, I present to you a list of all the places I would like to try to go (in no particuar order):
- Berlin
- Bonn
- Konstanz am Bodensee
- Hamburg
- Gdansk (around 14 hrs by train)
- Schaffhausen
- Venice (closer to Regensburg than Berlin)
- Schloss Neuschwanstein
- Aachen
- Zurich
- Vienna
- Lichtenstein
- Bad-Waldsee (sister city to my German camp)
gah, my computer is losing it, so I will have to finish later.
Vox has this absurd shortcoming through which you cannot post links in the sidebar of your blog. Until they fix it, they will play second fiddle to blogger, which is pretty sad. So anyway, when I start getting links that I want to add to this blog, I will post them to this post, and it will be tagged as "links" and you'll be able to access it easily via the tags in the sidebar.
Regensburg Links
- Kreuz und Quer Ultimate (auf Deutsch, but I'll let you know if any pictures end up there)
- Neupfarrplatz Live Cam (at the end of my street)
Friends' Travel Blogs
- Hivemind Travels (Anna & Christine in Egypt and Senegal, respectively)
- Ben in Salamanca (not that Ben)
- Janie and Nessie (Janie in Edinburgh, Scotland)
- ...And I Like Beer, too. (Craig in New Zealand, begins mid-February)
- Alissa's Wide World (Alissa in China and beyond)
